ROBIN CLASS Hello! My name is Mrs Smith and I am one of the Reception teachers in the Early Years Foundation Stage. My class is called Robin class and my teaching assistant is Miss Weare. We work together with the other teachers in Finch class to make sure learning is lots of fun. We are lucky to have plenty of space indoors and outdoors in which to learn. There are many exciting things to do and explore in our environment.

Each term we plan a different learning journey. In the Autumn term our learning journey starts with ‘What is it like to be me?  In the second half of the term we learn about ’Why do things change colour?’  In the Spring term we journey through our themes ‘What shall I wear?’ and ‘What’s inside?’ In the Summer term our journey starts with ‘Who’s prints are these?’ and we finish the year with ‘Why was the world created?’

Our learning journeys are a little different each year because we like to make sure we have time to learn about the things you are interested in too.

My name is Miss Leach and I am the teacher of MAGPIE CLASS in Year 2. The teaching assistants in Year 2 are Mrs Charalambous and Mrs Richards.

I am really looking forward to this school year and am excited about learning lots of things with my new class. We have some fantastic opportunities to learn about castles, some famous explorers and lots of interesting information about minibeasts.

I encourage the children to be as independent as possible, using resources and their peers to help them learn.  We take care of the classroom and each other. Every member of my class has an opportunity to be a Busy Bee and there are many classroom jobs to be done!

Finally, I wish the children a happy year and hope they enjoy Year 2!

Hello and welcome to Outstanding OWL CLASS

My name is Mr Ireland and I am the teacher. Mrs Richards also works in the classroom as a teaching assistant and she will always be there to support children with kindness and a smile. We are both looking forward to the new challenges and learning that the children will experience.

In Owl class, the children will be encouraged to become the very best version of themselves and to lead their own learning through challenges and continuous provision. They will be in a safe and supportive environment and will be encouraged to put their all into every lesson whilst having fun along the way. My aim for the year is to enrich children’s education and to make sure they well-rounded, confident and possess a positive attitude towards their work.

We have many different exciting learning experiences throughout the year. We will be visiting Arundel Castle, designing delicious ice lollies, sewing puppets, watching the life cycle of butterflies and so much more. Both Mrs Richards and I have high expectations of behaviour and expect the children to take responsibility for the classroom environment and, most importantly, the way they treat others.

We look forward to sharing learning, fun and smiles throughout Year 2.

Welcome to KINGFISHER CLASS!

Mrs Finlay is the teacher of Kingfisher Class. Joining us will be the lovely Mrs Christodoulou as our Teaching Assistant. Mrs Christodoulou will be supporting you with your learning as well as supervising your playtimes. She will also be your Midday Meals Supervisor.

Year 3 is full of exciting, fun things to learn about! From rainforests, food and mountains in Geography, travelling through prehistoric times in History, Scratch and Animation in our Computing lessons, to Plants and Light in Science and plenty more to keep you busy! We love to have story times together, reading a wide range of literature and our whole class reading books are fantastic. We are passionate about working outdoors when possible. We also love to be active with great PE lessons and of course, to challenge ourselves on the Daily Mile. Over the year, we have some inspiring visitors planned to make our learning come alive. We finish our time together in Year 3, with our awesome camping trip together on the school field!

In Kingfisher Class, we ask that each child takes responsibility for their own learning and behaviour to help us work together as a TEAM. We ask that you try your best, explore new learning and use the amazing skills you have learnt in each of the different subjects we do. As a class, it is our aim to demonstrate the Goring School Values at all times and we enjoy celebrating when members of the Kingfisher team go above and beyond to show these.

Welcome to SWALLOW CLASS!

Miss Ash is the teacher Monday to Thursday and Mrs Grigg will teach on a Thursday afternoon and Friday. We have a wonderful teaching assistant, Mrs Vachhani who will be supporting the children with their learning this year.

In year 3 we learn so much; from rainforests and mountains in geography to the Stone age and Romans in history, from scratch and animation in computing, to plants and rocks in science, and plenty more! We have awesome whole class reading books and we love having story time. We have some inspiring visitors planned to make our learning really come alive, and of course, we finish the year with our fabulous camping trip on the school field.

We are passionate about working outdoors when possible, and we love to be active with great PE lessons and of course, the daily mile.

In Swallow class, we want each child to take responsibility for their learning and to work together as a TEAM to explore our new learning. We aim to demonstrate the school values at all times, and we colour in a piece of our class heart when individually or as a team, we go above and beyond to demonstrate a value.

Hello and welcome to PUFFIN CLASS

My name is Mrs Whittaker and I am going to be your teacher.  I am really looking forward to a wonderful year in our classroom! Our teaching assistant will be the lovely Mrs Hughes, who many of you already know from Year 3.

In Puffin class, I encourage all children to be happy, confident and independent learners.  I like all the children to try their best at ALL times, to be kind, helpful and resilient, and to keep our classroom neat and tidy. I love to read, and I would like all the children in my class to love books and reading as much as I do.

There is a lot to look forward to in Year 4! We have some very exciting learning ahead. To kick-start we are learning about how rivers are formed in geography. In the autumn term we also get to go on a residential visit to Lodge Hill Activity Centre, which will be a fantastic way for you to bond as a team and overcome challenges in a supportive and fun environment – plus, the food is awesome! At Christmas, our year group leads the carol service at the Church.

In the spring term will also put on a musical production, which you will perform to the school and your parents and carers at the Church Hall.

In the summer, you will become experts in history as you learn about the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings and how the country of England came to be. We will visit Butser Ancient Farm to find out more about what life was like in the early mediaeval period.

What an exciting year we will have! I look forward to finding out all about you, and I can’t wait to start our learning adventure together!

Hello! My name is Mr Daniel and I teach SEAGULL CLASS. Our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Woodward.

Learning is a journey which we will all embark on. There will be ups and downs but the most important thing is that the children are happy. My philosophy is that ‘happy children learn’. The children will take risks, make mistakes and use these as a platform to become more confident and independent learners. I want them to try their best and be determined to succeed. All the children will be on different parts of their learning journey and that is ok.

I like to foster an environment of curiosity and encourage children to ask questions to further their understanding. Becoming active learners will allow the children to develop many important skills. We should all have high expectations of behaviour and expect one another to be respectful. These are important values.

We will have a lot of fun with our learning!

I hope that you feel welcome and have a brilliant time in Year 4.

Hello! My name is Mr Wilkins, and I am SO excited to be teaching in Year 5 this year in KESTREL CLASS

Year 5 is one of my favourite (and most fun!) year groups to teach, and if you are in my class, then I will do my absolute best to make sure it is one of your favourite years too!

The topics are fantastic, starting with ‘Astronomical’ - a ‘deep dive’ into space and our solar system; this is followed after Christmas by learning about the ‘Terrible Tudors’, the ‘Ancient Greeks’, and finally: ‘London Calling’ - which even includes a trip to London!

There is a lot to learn in Year 5, and a lot of fun to be had along the way. As long as you always work hard and try your best, we have an awesome year together. See you there!

Mr Wilkins

Hello!

My name is Mrs Allwright and I can’t wait for you to join OSPREY CLASS. The supportive Ms Smith will also be here to help you learn and achieve your best.

So what does this year have in store? Well, we are going to be exploring the furthest reaches of space, travelling back in time to discover why the Tudors were terrible and exploring Ancient Greece and its impact on us today. We are also going to be learning about how our local town of Worthing has changed over time and how it is significantly different to our capital city (London). Hopefully, before the year is out, we may even be able to visit London to carry out our own research!

We hope you have got determination, perseverance and a hard-working attitude. If you have, you are certainly ready for a new school year and the exciting challenges of Year 5!

Hello and welcome to EAGLE CLASS, where I will be your teacher and Mrs Allward will be our teaching assistant.

In Eagle class, we believe the best in you; want the best for you and expect the best from you. We see mistakes as learning opportunities and there will certainly be plenty of learning going on (and some fun too!).

You can look forward to some exciting learning from the very start when you will be applying for a year 6 job; learning about natural disasters and, judging the first class book you would me to read through our ‘World cup of Books.’ In the spring term, we step back in time and, not only learn about but, experience what it was like living during World War 2. We continue to learn about light and electricity and create our own propaganda art. And as for the summer term – well its jam packed with learning about different 3D artists, completing field work on Highdown Hill and taking part in the fiver challenge as well as a residential trip, a Year 6 production and so much more.

Your Year 6 journey is going to be awesome – a year of creating amazing memories, embracing new learning opportunities and developing skills for the future.

My hope for you is that you end the year with a huge smile on your face, knowing that you have achieved your God-given potential.

Hello and welcome to HAWK CLASS.  My name is Miss Jones and I will be working alongside Mrs Macara to help support you with your learning. We are both looking forward to the new challenges and learning opportunities that Year 6 will bring. It is a year where you will be given greater responsibility and we cannot wait to see what you can achieve.

In Hawk class, you are always encouraged to become the very best version of you.

You will take responsibility for your learning but we will be there to guide whenever you need a helping hand.  In every lesson, you will be expected to do the best you possibly can whilst always remembering the most important thing of all is to have a smile on your face.
